Contextual views combining relevant data from different information silos improves decision making within a company. Finding the data when it is outside your immediate responsibilities can be challenging. Making sure the data is from a stable configuration is also challenging; was it from an early release or a pilot or somewhere in between?
As presented in previous CIMdata webinars—working from home, data governance, and PLM hardships—some of the enablers for remote working are the same as the enablers for effective decision making. PLM platforms can provide a framework for establishing and managing configurations. This PLM product and process innovation framework must-have capabilities to explore heterogeneous external data sources intelligently.
Process orchestration (i.e.., what needs to be decided when), and shared configurations (i.e., a stable basis), are key elements for improving product development.
