InfoWorks WS V14.5 Bolsters Modeling Accuracy and Performance

Innovyze announced the release of InfoWorks WS V14.5, featuring added capabilities driven by input from Innovyze customers. The enhanced version reinforces Innovyze’s commitment to offering best-in-class smart water solutions that address current and future business drivers and help enhance the safety, efficiency, reliability and sustainability of the world’s water supply.

Whether configured as a component of a corporate modeling solution or a stand-alone desktop application, InfoWorks WS combines a fast relational database, powerful hydraulic computational engine and comprehensive spatial analysis tools to create a single, flexible smart water network modeling application that excels in both steady-state and extended period dynamic simulations.

InfoWorks WS uses an enhanced version of the WesNet engine, renowned for its speed with large networks and its ability to cope with ‘difficult’ networks. A full range of simulation capabilities is standard, including water quality and sediment modeling, fire flow assessment, pipe criticality analysis, demand area and leakage analysis, energy use and cost calculations, and auto-calibration of networks. User Programmable Control (UPC) allows modelers to optimize water network operating regimes by changing state of control elements based on the status of sensors.

V14.5 includes several innovations that address business challenges. Additional pump capabilities enable users to define time-varying on/off level profiles for pump station control modes to closely match real-life network conditions. These tools can also be used to explore improved pump control strategies that minimize energy costs and environmental impact. A new target flow mode of control for pump stations can be used to regulate flow in any pipe by setting a target flow profile to be met at the control location.

InfoWorks WS V14.5 also introduces a new method of data reporting called Dashboard — a collection of user-defined graphical components that instantly displays a high level overview based on results of queries run on a network or live data. The layout of Dashboard can be customized to meet organizational requirements, and can either be displayed within InfoWorks WS or exported in a number of common formats. Dashboards can be automatically updated at specified intervals, exported in HTML, and published to a web server for viewing outside the InfoWorks WS environment. Another key enhancement, an upgrade to MapXtreme (Pitney Bowes, Hertfordshire, UK) map control V7.1, enables Web Map Service (WMS) V1.3 images to be loaded directly from a GIS server into the InfoWorks WS GeoPlan as a background layer.

“The V14.5 release of InfoWorks WS introduces new intelligent tools and capabilities that greatly enhance the quality of network modeling results, promote greater information sharing within utilities and further distances our water modeling solution from others on the market,” said Paul F. Boulos, Ph.D., BCEEM, Hon.D.WRE, Dist.D.NE, F.ASCE, President, COO and Chief Technical Officer of Innovyze. “As a trusted organization, Innovyze plays a critical role in helping our customers create ever more accurate and useful water distribution network models that enable them to provide excellent value and level of service to their customers. We will continue to enhance our products to exceed their expectations.”
