EXCITE 6.1 Streamlines Powertrain Simulation

AVL has released the latest edition of its EXCITE software, a tool for simulating dynamics and acoustics of powertrain systems. EXCITE 6.1 offers improved reliability, usability and project turn-around times, thanks in large part to a strategic agreement and collaboration between AVL and ABAQUS.

EXCITE 6.1, which combines ABAQUS' Finite Element Analysis (FEA) technology with AVL's expertise in powertrain- related applications, provides complete workflow solutions for engine Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) and crankshaft durability analysis.

"Chrysler Group uses both EXCITE and ABAQUS technologies in our product development process," stated William Resh, Senior Manager for Powertrain CAE/Simulation, Chrysler Group. "The integrated functionalities of EXCITE 6.1 will help us design the powertrain systems of the future."

"EXCITE 6.1 offers extended integrated calculation capabilities and a more automated interface," said Raymond W. Corbin, president of AVL Powertrain Engineering. "The result is a more user-friendly powertrain modeling tool for our customers."

The flexible packaging scheme for this solution allows customers to fully leverage existing investments in both companies' software products. The software is available to customers through local AVL affiliates and is priced based on the level of software requested. EXCITE product information is available at http://www.avl.com/excite
