Serena Supports SAFE for the Mainframe with New TeamTrack for ChangeMan Release

SERENA Software, Inc . announced new advanced capabilities for Serena® TeamTrack® for ChangeMan®. Version 6.2 builds on the functionality inherent in the previous release with even stronger bi-directional communication between TeamTrack, the company's request management solution and Serena® ChangeMan® ZMF, its flagship mainframe change management product. For the first time, customers can now view, control and synchronize mainframe changes across the application lifecycle directly from a Web browser via TeamTrack, greatly streamlining and extending the development process to non-mainframe users. By keeping close track of software changes as they move through all stages of the application lifecycle, Version 6.2 extends Serena's Application Framework for Enterprises (SAFET), the company's strategy for providing process-to-process integration across the enterprise.

"Having one process for managing changes to mainframe applications, and an entirely separate process for managing changes to all of our other applications, was too time and resource intensive. Using TeamTrack for ChangeMan we're now able to coordinate multiple software changes on the mainframe through a single solution, which has significantly helped streamline our development efforts," said Ben Carr, Senior Production Control Analyst, at Watkins Motor Lines. "We're excited about the release of version 6.2, and expect that the enhanced bi-directional communication support will allow us to achieve even greater cost and time savings."

By ensuring that only desired changes are deployed and actions no longer "fall through the cracks," the enhanced integration improves application integrity and quality. In addition to strong bi-directional communication support, TeamTrack for ChangeMan 6.2 also extends the reach of the mainframe to non-mainframe users, allowing them to participate in the change management and approval process. Users can initiate, manage and approve changes to mainframe applications directly from the Web. Not only does the functionality help customers leverage and extend their existing IT infrastructure, it also enforces the alignment of the change approval process to the change and increases overall productivity.

TeamTrack for ChangeMan 6.2 also includes enhanced release coordination capabilities, which permit users to better manage and move related items through their corresponding workflow. By enabling relationships to be established between multiple application changes, the product helps customers improve overall synchronization of changes and gain more visibility into the change management process. This results in better decision-making and greater IT efficiency.

"TeamTrack for ChangeMan brings the automation and process control companies need to efficiently and cost-effectively manage changes to the mainframe while maximizing their existing IT investments," said Bill Piwonka, Senior Director of Product Marketing Operations at Serena Software. "By providing a common process foundation for coordinating, approving and reporting changes to mainframe applications-and allowing anytime, anywhere access to those changes, we ensure that customers can continue to take full advantage of SAFE. Through SAFE, customers are realizing substantial improvements in team collaboration, time to market and overall enterprise efficiency."

Availability

TeamTrack for ChangeMan 6.2 is currently available to TeamTrack customers as a non-chargeable option. The option is supported through the latest versions of Serena TeamTrack and Serena ChangeMan ZMF.
