Hankook Delcam Wins Best Sales Partner Award
Delcam's Korean Sales Partner Hankook Delcam was presented with the Best Sales Partner Award at the company's recent Sales Partner Meeting at its Birmingham headquarters. Record results in Korea during 2004 made Hankook Delcam the first Delcam reseller ever to generate higher revenue from sales of software and maintenance than the UK subsidiary managed in its home market.
The improved results followed the relocation of the company's headquarters to larger offices in Seoul during 2003 and an increase to 36 staff. Sales during 2004 were 18% up on 2003 and over 75% up compared to the total for 2002. As well as setting new records for Delcam, these figures make Hankook Delcam not only one of the largest CADCAM resellers in Korea but also one of the fastest-growing suppliers in the country.
The company has long been established as the leading provider of CADCAM systems to Korea's mould and die industry and is now becoming recognized as the major supplier to other areas of toolmaking. For example, 30 out of the 36 suppliers of press tooling in the Daegu region now use Delcam software. Further growth has come from expansion into other industries, in particular footwear and packaging.
Hankook Delcam was founded by company President Chan Oong Jeong in 1986 to sell Delcam software into the growing market for CADCAM in Korea. It was one of the first resellers appointed by Delcam when the company started the international promotion of its software in the 1980s.
Like all other suppliers, Hankook Delcam was hit hard by the effects of the problems in the Asian economy in the late 1990s. However, unlike other CADCAM providers, the company, with the support of the UK partner, made the decision to retain its entire staff, knowing that their skills would be vital to provide the continuing support needed by its customers during the crisis and to rebuild sales as the economy improved.
As a result, Hankook Delcam is now able to provide exceptional technical support from very experienced specialists in both design and manufacturing. Together with the strengths of the Power Solution software, this high level of service has enabled the company to become one of the leading CADCAM suppliers in Korea, with customers including many of Korea's leading manufacturing companies and academic institutions.
