In CIMdata’s most recent poll, the intent was to assess how well PLM solution suppliers are providing support to their customers, and to determine if there is a difference between the quality of support obtained directly from the solution supplier versus that received from a value added reseller (VAR) or channel partner.
The good news is that 50% of those responding believe that user support was either good or excellent from solution suppliers and resellers alike. For solutions suppliers, the percentage of those responding excellent compared to good was approximately the same. However, for resellers, those responding excellent was only half of those responding good.
These anecdotal results confirm what CIMdata routinely hears in our work with industrial clients worldwide; PLM solution suppliers are doing a good job in providing customer support with some room for improvement. However, there is an opportunity to improve the capacity and training of PLM resellers and channel partners to excel by providing more than just ‘’good” support, which is required in today’s hyper competitive technology landscape.
