Kenneth B. Amann
Ken Amann, CIMdata Director of Research, has more than 35 years of experience in the development of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Product Data Management (PDM) information technology (IT) architectures, computer-based engineering applications, document and information management systems, and aerospace engineering. He has held senior positions in PLM marketing, development, and consulting.
Mr. Amann’s PLM-related experience includes evaluating, recommending, and implementing solutions for corporate engineering and manufacturing operations, collaborative and concurrent engineering and product information management solutions, and PLM/PDM strategies and programs. Mr. Amann has developed and delivered PLM competitive analyses, provided market and product direction to PLM solution suppliers, and developed and implemented new product introduction strategies, including both organizational and technology changes. He has developed implementation plans and risk-mitigation strategies for introduction of new methods and technologies for product development. He has served as a PDM Marketing Manager and Technical Architect, Program Manager for PLM/PDM implementations, and has defined, developed, and implemented United States Department of Defense-compliant configuration management systems and Computer-Aided Acquisition and Logistic Support programs.
Mr. Amann holds a Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Barbara Aylesworth
Barbara Aylesworth, a CIMdata Consultant, is an information technology (IT) professional with more than 24 years of experience in the development and implementation of IT solutions for engineering and manufacturing enterprises and software solution providers. Ms. Aylesworth has held project management positions in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) selection and implementation, classification and information retrieval, supplier contract management, PLM solution strategy development, and software engineering.
As a PLM consultant, Ms. Aylesworth provides support for in-depth technical and business strategy and requirements development and assessment, process analysis and re-engineering, solution evaluation and selection, education, training, and project management services. She has supported international companies in various manufacturing industries. Ms. Aylesworth also provides technical analysis, tactical business planning, and training services to a range of IT, PLM/PDM, CAD/CAM, and ERP solution providers, systems integrators, and value-added resellers.
Ms. Aylesworth has been directly involved with the selection, integration, and implementation of large-scale, enterprise PDM solutions. She has spoken on the topics of PDM and archives management, classification and information retrieval, project management, and CAD history at a number of international conferences and in academic settings throughout North America and Europe.
Ms. Aylesworth’s university education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Lawrence Technological University and a Masters of Information and Library Science from The University of Michigan.
Peter A. Bilello
Peter Bilello, CIMdata’s President, has more than 22 years of experience in the development of business-enabling information technology (IT) solutions for research, engineering, and manufacturing organizations worldwide. He has held various positions in Product Lifecycle Management analysis, selection, implementation, and training, CAD/CAM/CAE/CIM implementation and management, synchronous and lean manufacturing consulting, and software engineering.
As a senior-level PLM consultant, Mr. Bilello provides in-depth technical analysis, strategic and tactical business planning, market and channel development, and training services to a range of IT, PLM, CAD/CAM, and ERP solution providers, systems integrators, and resellers. Mr. Bilello also provides in-depth technical and business requirements development and assessment, system selection, education, training, and implementation planning, and quality assurance services to a range of international companies in many discrete and process manufacturing industries, such as Automotive, Aerospace, Defense, Heavy Equipment, High-Tech Electronics, Consumer Packaged Goods/Consumer Products, Telecommunications, Medical Devices, Utilities/Infrastructure, Pharmaceutical, Retail and Apparel, and a number of other industries.
Mr. Bilello has been directly involved with the selection, consulting, integration, and implementation of large-scale PLM solutions. He has spoken on a number of different product development-related topics in Europe, North America, Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
Mr. Bilello’s university education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science with a minor in Physics from the California State University, Fullerton, and a Masters of Science in Engineering degree in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from The University of Michigan.
John MacKrell
John MacKrell, a senior consultant at CIMdata, has 40 years of experience in the application of computer-based solutions to engineering and manufacturing. He has held senior positions in product management, marketing, research and development, and consulting with companies that produce CAD/CAM/CIM, solid modeling, computer-aided systems engineering (CASE), and machine vision systems and services.
Mr. MacKrell’s experience includes marketing management, product management, market analysis, basic research in solid modeling techniques, and the development of algorithms for the application of topological structures for solid models; development of menu-based, interactive user interface paradigms for CAD/CAM and solid modeling; development of mechanical assembly data management systems, user interfaces, and mechanisms for interactively manipulating and constructing three-dimensional geometric models; and data modeling, software design and implementation.
His PLM-related consulting activities include technical and market education, strategic planning for PLM suppliers, technical and competitive product analyses, CAD and PDM solution requirements specification and selection, and development of end-user plans for the acquisition and implementation of various PLM enabling technologies, e.g., CAD, PDM, and visualization. He is a frequent speaker at conferences, trade shows, and seminars throughout the world.
Mr. MacKrell co-authored CIMdata’s PLM Buyer’s Guides, authored the MCAD Buyer’s Guides, and authored a number of other PLM-related books as well as many articles on collaborative product development, visualization, CAD/CAM, and solid modeling. He has conducted research in solid modeling and has worked with a variety of vendors and users on technical and marketing issues within the fields of CAD/CAM and PDM.
Mr. MacKrell received a Bachelor of Science degree in Naval Architecture from the University of Michigan, and has studied computer science in the graduate program at the University of Maryland.
