Department of Electronic Systems Engineering (ESE) at IISc, Bangalore jointly with LTM– the Business Creativity partner to the world’s largest enterprises, successfully hosted a Neuromorphic Computing Hackathon on 7 March, 2026. The initiative fostered cutting-edge AI research awareness through this joint engagement. Neuromorphic computing, a brain-inspired approach to artificial intelligence, is emerging as a cornerstone for next-generation intelligent systems. By enabling energy-efficient, event-driven and adaptive AI, neuromorphic architectures are particularly suited for edge and cyber-physical applications. Through this hackathon, LTM Research and IISc’s Department of Electronic Systems Engineering provided students and researchers with hands-on exposure to applying neuromorphic principles to real-world problem statements. Renesas Electronics Corporation, a premier supplier of advanced semiconductor solutions, announced the RH850/U2C, a new 32-bit automotive microcontroller (MCU) built on a 28nm process. With rich communication interface support and advanced security, the MCU targets a diverse range of automotive applications, including chassis and safety systems for passenger cars and motorcycles, battery management systems (BMS) and body control functions such as lighting and motor control, and other general-purpose ASIL D applications. The new device extends Renesas’ popular RH850 lineup as a low-end option, complementing the high-end RH850/U2B and mid-range RH850/U2A products. The RH850/U2C combines four RH850 CPU cores operating at up to 320 MHz (including two lockstep cores), with up to 8 MB of on-chip flash memory. Oracle announced the general availability of Oracle Construction and Engineering Advisor for Safety, an AI-enabled predictive intelligence solution that transforms safety management. With the offering, construction firms can better forecast project safety incidents to proactively prevent accidents, and support safer, more cost-effective jobsites. Previously, creating accurate predictive models required customers to supply extensive data for model training and tuning. The HOMAG Group significantly improved its earnings in the 2025 fiscal year thanks to the cost-cutting and optimization measures implemented. In a market environment that remained challenging, order intake increased slightly, while sales were slightly below the previous year’s level.  The HOMAG Group’s order intake increased slightly in 2025 to EUR 1,380 million (previous year: EUR 1,357 million), according to preliminary figures. “The demand for production systems for timber house construction has developed positively,” emphasizes CEO Dr. Daniel Schmitt. In this area, HOMAG achieved a new record order intake, including the largest order to date from the timber construction sector. “In the furniture sector, on the other hand, we have not seen any recovery; if anything, the tariff conflicts have further intensified the uncertainty in the furniture industry,” said the CEO.
