- 13:30 – 3:00 | The Digital Thread: Powering Digital Transformation
Vast amounts of data are generated across the product lifecycle from a wide range of applications, only some of which are related to PLM. The digital thread focuses on linking that information to better develop, manufacture, and support products today and to create improved offerings in the future. This is particularly relevant to the global aerospace and defense (A&D) industry, which made Digital Thread a suitable research topic for the CIMdata-administered A&D PLM Action Group (AD PAG).
- - 13:30 – 14:00 | The Promise of Digital Thread
James Roche, Executive Consultant, CIMdata [bio] [View Presentation]
This session will provide background on the Digital Thread including previous AD PAG research that was the foundation for the current research effort.
- - 14:00 – 14:30 | The Digital Thread: The Industrial Perspective
James Roche, Executive Consultant, CIMdata [bio] [View Presentation]
As part of CIMdata’s Digital Thread research we gathered information using an online survey and interviews with leading global A&D companies. This session will summarize those findings to provide guidance to the PLM Economy on how to better support this important concept.
- - 14:30 – 3:00 | The Digital Thread: The PLM Economy Perspective
Stan Przybylinski, Vice President, CIMdata [bio] [View Presentation]
Many solution and service providers already support the digital thread at their industrial clients. As part of CIMdata’s research on the Digital Thread we gathered information from leading solution and service providers on the challenges they face in meeting this new requirement.
- 15:00 – 15:20 | Networking Break
- 15:20 – 16:20 | Updates on Key Topics
CIMdata continues to investigate many topics of interest to the PLM Economy. The following sessions include CIMdata’s initial research on two of these topics.
- - 15:20 – 15:50 | The Green Energy Transition
Mark Reisig, Executive Consultant, CIMdata [bio] [View Presentation]
Rising concerns over climate change are shifting energy ecosystems away from fossil fuels towards renewable, clean energy and more sustainable products across many industries. Companies are responding with ambitious “net-zero” greenhouse gas emissions commitments. This session will review key aspects for reducing the carbon footprint of a company’s products and operations including their supply chain as well as embedding sustainability across the digital thread.
- - 15:50 – 16:20 | Data Governance in the Era of the Digital Thread
Janie Gurley, Data Governance Practice Manager, CIMdata [bio] [View Presentation]
Digital thread initiatives often succeed or fail based on the robustness of corporate data. Data governance continues to fall short of true ROI as organizations continue to believe it is a project not a process that must be carefully planned and managed to ensure it is sustainable.
- 16:20 – 16:30 | Closing Comments
