PLM Technology Obsolescence Management - Position Paper
The ability of an Aerospace & Defense (A&D) company to upgrade and transition their Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solution to new technologies in multiple increments over decades without data loss and excessive cost and effort is crucial to business performance. The A&D PLM Action Group (AD PAG) has sponsored a multi-year project to identify requirements, along with the business context from which they were derived, to help meet A&D industry objectives and the desired state of minimized PLM technology obsolescence management costs and risk. The objective is to create an industry-accepted foundation and achieve business performance improvements that result from implementing data standards and high-level architectural principles based on standards.
