Ed Hoffman is a Senior Principal Software Engineer at Sandia National Laboratories (Sandia), Quantitative Modeling and Analysis department. He has a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering (University of Florida) and an MS degree in Computational Mechanics (University of New Mexico). Ed spent the first 12 years of his career at Sandia as a modeling and simulation analyst, providing engineering decision support for high-consequence weapon and energy systems programs. In that role, Ed developed a passion for design knowledge preservation from computational simulations used in systems certification. In the last 15 years, Ed has been a leader in the development and evangelism of software tools and systems to help analysts perform their work more efficiently and with greater accuracy, while simultaneously capturing data provenance.
