Do any of the following statements sound a little too familiar?
- Current design and/or manufacturing processes are too rigid, the cost of change is very high.
- Reconciliation of Bills of Information is a manual, error prone process between engineering and manufacturing, and then to service.
- Incomplete manufacturing information is provided from engineering.
- Bills of Information don’t include requirements or documentation.
At each stage in a product’s life, from conception, to design, and continuing through manufacturing and service, product information should be organized into a Bill of Information (BoI). Aligning BoI’s between different product life stages is essential for product production and compliance, integrity, and traceability. Reconciling multiple representations of the BoI has led to customer-specific PLM implementations, requiring customizations to standard PLM solution provider offerings. CIMdata, working with leading Aerospace and Defense (A&D) firms, is defining industry best practices for managing configurations of Multiview Bills of Information. Using aerospace industry provided use cases, we will discuss recent best practices resulting from the A&D Multiview BOM project.
What will I learn by attending this webinar?
- You will better understand how PLM can be used in the aerospace engineering and manufacturing processes.
- You will learn about aerospace best practices and concepts for BoI configuration management.
- You will find out how the Digital Thread weaves together multiple views of the BoI throughout a product’s life.
- You will gain awareness of Multiview BoI Configuration Management issues being discussed within the CIMdata A&D PLM Action Group.
- You will be exposed to the different approaches for Multiview BOM integrations between PLM and ERP.
- You will be made aware of key BoI concepts.
