Fujitsu is showcasing advanced technologies that help drive the digital transformation of the region through its participation at the GITEX Technology Week 2018. A highlight of Fujitsu’s participation are the industry workshops that it will host to highlight the latest trends that can help customers transform their business scape and achieve higher levels of efficieny, productivity and security. Wipro Limited announced the launch of its Innovation and Talent Hub in Reading, reinforcing the company’s commitment to develop talent and strengthen STEM skills in the United Kingdom. The multifunctional hub will be a centre of excellence for ‘Ascent’, Wipro’s talent development programme launched in 2017, to train UK-based computer science graduates and degree apprentices in digital technologies. To date, the programme has trained and placed 95 digital technology graduates and 40 digital technology degree apprentices in client projects at Wipro, across the UK. The graduates are from multiple universities in the UK while Sheffield Hallam University is the learning provider for the apprentices who are studying for a Bachelor of Science degree in digital technology. Alstom, IGE+XAO, and Safran are strengthening their collaboration by creating a Centre of Excellence in Toulouse for the engineering of onboard railway electrical systems. Located on the site of the aeronautical equipment manufacturer Safran Electrical & Power, this international Centre of Excellence will be able to accommodate up to 100 engineers. Siemens and Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) have formed a new academic partnership to provide students with the skills needed to operate and advance the nation’s energy grid. Faced with the growth of renewable energy and the threat of outages from extreme weather, the power grid is becoming more reliant than ever on intelligent, digital technologies to smoothly operate the country’s critical infrastructure. This new program will prepare students for this shifting energy landscape by providing them with both new classroom curriculum and hands-on learning via real-world software and hardware tools in a new state-of-the-art Digital Grid Lab. Exenta, formerly Simparel, has officially completed their headquarters move to a new location within NYC’s garment district. The announcement was made today by Exenta’s CEO, Roberto Mangual. “We are thrilled to be settled in our new space,” Mangual stated, “Our new office allows our employees to more effectively communicate with each other due to its spacious and functional setup. Gerber Technology announced that it has acquired San Francisco based Avametric. Avametric develops the world’s leading cloth simulation technology and enables fashion brands to deliver highly accurate 3D renderings of their products on customizable avatars for e-commerce and augmented reality (AR) applications.
