PDF Key takeaways: Customers leverage Autodesk Fusion Lifecycle solutions to power a wide range of business processes in many different industries. Companies like the ability to rapidly tailor the solution mostly without deep technical skills, helping to quickly address pressing business problems, speeding its adoption within organizations. The company has a longer road ahead to flesh out their product innovation platform to support engineering work-in-process management and other essential PLM use cases on the cloud. Autodesk convened their fourth Accelerate conference on September 21-22, 2017 at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston, MA. The crowd of about 200 included a range of Autodesk customers, Autodesk staff, sponsors, Autodesk partners, media, and analysts. As a company, Autodesk is in the middle of some big changes: their move to subscription from perpetual license and a new CEO, Andrew Anagnost. Based on their financial reporting, the business model change to subscription is progressing mostly as planned, and

PDF Key takeaways: The long-awaited merger of Geometric and HCL is complete, and the combined entity has the capabilities to support next generation products and evolving business models using a newly created dedicated service line known as GeometricPLM. HCL leverages the best of both organizations, the traditional PLM strengths of Geometric, with the IT and product realization expertise of HCL, providing customers and prospects end-to-end services for their product lifecycle needs. HCL’s capabilities include commercial software products to support product development such as CAMWorks, DFMPro, and GeometricEDGE, and is further strengthened by major investments made by HCL in Industry 4.0, analytics, and MES. HCL recently completed its acquisition of Geometric. Geometric has been a very familiar name to PLM oriented people in automotive, aerospace, and other industrial companies. They developed deep experience with multiple tools, technologies, and processes that support the creation of product data. Geometric also developed a strong system integration (SI) practice focused

PDF Key takeaways: The deployment of 3D model-based enterprise (MBE) processes is rapidly expanding across multiple industry verticals and the use of 3D PDF plays a central role in their effective implementation. Anark Corporation and International TechneGroup have formed a strategic partnership to provide users a production quality 3D PDF solution for 3D data and document publishing, including model-based definition (MBD), validation, and exchange through the integration of ITI’s CADIQ and Anark Core technologies supported by their combined implementation expertise. The exchange of product design and manufacturing data between an OEM and its supply chain partners is critical to meeting a product’s on-time and on-budget goals. Yet, the reality of packaging data for delivery often falls short in both content and quality, contributing to delays and cost overruns. Two leading solution providers have recently formed a partnership to deliver state of the art data exchange and validation to facilitate communication between product stakeholders based

Key takeaways: M&A activities result in the need for an enterprise PLM backbone, unifying all product design assets across disparate business units. PLM transformations require large scale data migrations, which are often the highest risk, most over budget process in moving to a consolidated PLM platform. Using an open source toolset enables agility and multiple implementation options for PLM migrations; decreasing overall PLM implementation schedule risk and cost In today’s economy, organizational realignments, mergers, acquisitions, technological upgrades, and security enhancements are all motivating factors for firms to consolidate and upgrade legacy and current PDM and other PLM-enabling solutions. The result is a need for data and process migration, from legacy and internal systems to a currently supported, ideally non-customized, PLM-enabling solution. CIMdata observes that data migrations are the most underestimated and under resourced part of PLM implementations, and often the highest risk factor in delaying the implementation and increasing overall implementation costs.  PDF Key takeaways: Manufacturing enterprises need flexible, scalable PLM environments and platforms that can adapt to their changing business needs. SAP’s S/4HANA provides a business platform for enterprise connectivity and management to deliver improved business performance. SAP PLM is leveraging S/4HANA to enable “Live PLM” throughout the manufacturing enterprise. Introduction Manufacturing companies in every industry are facing new challenges across all areas of their businesses. The Internet of Things (IoT), mobility, social, cloud, and big data/analytics are some of the technology-fueled trends that are changing products and how businesses must create new solutions to remain relevant in today’s marketplace. They must be able to address these challenges in a nimble, flexible manner and quickly tailor their products to meet local and global requirements, while adapting to changing market conditions and emerging competition. To meet these challenges, companies need to implement Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) strategies that enable them to quickly develop, manufacture, launch, and service their
