Christophe Castaing, Director of Digital Engineering, EGIS
Christophe Castaing is an architect by training and a CAD development graduate. He has been with EGIS for 30+ years and has experience in the project management of large Infrastructure projects (Road and Rail) in Europe and the Middle East.
Since 2016, Christophe has been the Director of Digital Engineering at EGIS SA. Prior to that he was director of the BIM bt EGIS project.
From 2007 until 2011, he participated in the research project COMMUNIC. Currently, he leads the research project MINnD, which is sponsored by the MEDDE (French Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development) to develop Infrastructure Information modelling. The project includes 60 French organizations from the construction domain.
Among other things Christophe teaches the class “Project Management with BIM for students in the BIM professionals master’s program at the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées (ENPC-Paris).
He is also involved with the following professional organizations and capacities:
- Representative of SYNTEC ingénièrie in the French project of Data Dictionary PPBIM, with Afnor.
- Technical advisor for MEDDE in CEDR S3
- Technical advisor for MEDDE in the European BIM group
- Chairman of the Infrastructure Room, in Building Smart International
- Leading IFC Bridge Project and launching the IFC rail project (with SNCF, Deutsche Bahn, China Railway BIM alliance).
- Standards committee member of Building Smart International
- Chairman of the EFCA BIM task force and liaison officer in CEN TC442 and ISO TC59
