The Model-Based Enterprise: PLM as Backbone of A&D Digital Transformation

Digital transformation initiatives are underway across the defense ecosystem, which includes government entities - both military and civilian. Their goals include speed to new capability insertion, improved asset uptime, and lowered support costs. Their main task is getting their digital ‘house’ in order but, change of this magnitude is not always easy.

As systems grow more complex, multiple disciplines need to collaborate in order to design, build, and maintain them. By enabling the model-based enterprise, designing a system using models ensures early visualization and simulation, thus improving stakeholder communication.

The United States Navy – an organization with over 300,000 active duty personnel, hundreds of ships, and thousands of suppliers – is leveraging Windchill SaaS to expose an integrated and model-based view of all the information needed to maintain, support, and operate ships.

This session will cover how PTC has enabled its enterprise-wide digital transformation project, to improve fleet availability and readiness, create efficient processes for logistics and services, while reducing IT expenses.
