Winbond Israel Chooses Cadence Incisive Palladium Series to Ease Design Verification

Cadence Design Systems, Inc. announced that Winbond Israel, a design and marketing center for Winbond Electronics Corp., has adopted the Cadence® Incisive® Palladium® emulator system for its advanced system-level verification needs. Winbond Israel develops ICs for the PC and server markets and serves PC OEM and ODM companies worldwide.

Winbond Israel found that the Palladium emulator series reduced the overall verification schedule by offering prototype-like runtime performance in a live circuit environment, with fast full-chip bring-up and powerful debug. Combining its plug-and-play SpeedBridge IP portfolio with system-level hardware/software co-verification in a multi-user environment, the Palladium series provided an easy-to-use overall solution that delivered verification capability nearly 5,000 times greater than simulation alone.

"We were up against a very tight schedule and limited resources and needed to integrate a complex environment that included three interfaces with mixed-language RTL," said Uri Trichter, senior director of business development at Winbond Israel. "The Palladium series allowed us to bring up our design in a 'real life' environment in a matter of days. Compared to FPGA prototyping, it greatly reduced our verification cycle and, ultimately, enabled us to complete our project on schedule."

The Palladium series of accelerators/emulators provides the industry's highest throughput for verification and validation of complex hardware, software, and full systems in the wireless, graphics, networking, and consumer markets. By incorporating peripherals, embedded processors, multiple ASICs, embedded software, and real-world data, the system delivers up to 10,000 times the average simulation performance in emulation mode or when regression testing with an embedded testbench. The system delivers superior debug, systemwide management, and advanced verification automation features that can bring up a new design to emulation in less than a week.

"We continue to find that companies developing new products in the graphics and networking space, such as Winbond, have a tremendous thirst for increased verification performance that is easy to integrate into their current flow," said Steve Glaser, corporate vice president, Marketing, Verification Division at Cadence. "We are pleased that Winbond chose the Palladium series to help manage its complex systemwide verification needs and address its aggressive product delivery schedules."
