Pentax Invests in 3G.Design Simulation/Optimization Suite to Improve Quality and Reduce Product Shipment Cycle
PlassoTech Inc. announced that Tokyo, Japan-based Pentax Corporation has successfully integrated the 3G.Design Simulation/Optimization Suite into its product design processes. As a leading supplier of digital cameras with many industry-firsts, Pentax relies on the 3G.Design Simulation/Optimization Suite to improve design accuracy and reduce time to market.
"By enabling our designers to use CAE by themselves, 3G.author allows the use of more analysis for improving Pentax's production quality," says Mr. Matsuda, director, CAE, Pentax Corporation. "The important thing was our culture in design has started to change as they do analysis by themselves and use 3G.author to improve their product and quality."
"Our designers verified that 3G.author was superior than other products in ease of use, mesher quality and solver speed," says Ms. Iwasaki, CAE project team member.
Pentax designers benchmarked three CAE products using real production data. This resulted in a favorable report showing 3G.author was superior to other products in ease of use, mesher quality and solver speed, as well as support. As a result, the 3G.Design Simulation/Optimization Suite was installed on about 80 design engineer workstations.

Unigraphics NX will be added. In addition, the software offers upward analysis mobility to such finite element analysis programs as MSC.Nastran and SINDA/G.
