Cimatron E 5.1 Provides Enhanced NC Capabilities for Toolmakers

Cimatron Ltd. ( http://www.cimatron.com ) announced the release of Cimatron E 5.1. With this release, Cimatron added new NC functionality including enhanced 5-Axis Milling, Multi-Cutters Finish routines, and additional features to prolong tool life and improve machining efficiency in deep cavities.

Cimatron E encompasses a set of powerful, easy-to-use 3D design tools. The unified solid-surface-wireframe modeling environment allows the user to manipulate imported data, or create conceptual part designs with equal ease. In the design process, Cimatron E smoothly integrates tools to split part geometry, finds and implements engineering changes, creates electrodes and inserts, and details tooling components. During manufacturing, Cimatron E implements 2.5- to 5-axis toolpaths with a focus on toolmaking, using high-speed machining, knowledge of actual stock remaining, and templates to improve programming productivity and reduce machining time.

Cimatron customers around the world have shown enthusiastic support of Cimatron E 5.1. Jim Dent, CAD Engineer, LS Mold in Holland, Michigan, commented, "What sets us apart from other shops are Cimatron's CAD/CAM capabilities. Cimatron really listens to our needs, and Version 5.1 shows how they implemented our requirements in the software, with a first-rate modeling package and smooth electrode creation."

To further boost the software's NC power, Cimatron E 5.1's enhanced features include:

5X Trimming, removes residual material in parts produced using vacuum forming or forging with 5X machines; Trochoidal Pitch, improves HSM roughing by controlling the forward pitch of trocoidal cutting; Reduce Plunge and Reduce Entry Feeds according to the actual remaining stock to prolong tool life; Finish Corner Feed and Variable Layers, significantly improve surface quality in the Finish by Layers function; and an optimized Muli-Cutters finishing feature that accounts for tools with various holders and actual remaining stock.

Zvika Naggan, President & CEO of Cimatron, comments, "We are confident that this release will help strengthen Cimatron's leading market position, and provide our customers with increased NC capability and flexibility to stay ahead of the competition."
