HOOPSŪ Powers Graphics in SculptorT CFD Design Tool From Optimal Solutions
Optimal Solutions, a start-up software firm specializing in CFD shape deformation and design optimization and Tech Soft America (TSA), a provider of component graphics technology to the CAD/CAM/CAE industry, announced a licensing agreement. Working through HOOPS reseller Spatial ( http://www.spatial.com/ ), Optimal Solutions has leveraged TSA's HOOPS ( http://www.hoops3d.com ) graphics components to help them deliver their CFD design tool, SculptorT.
Optimal Solutions has developed an interactive CFD design software program called SculptorT that provides capabilities to perform arbitrary shape deformation and optimization in CFD design-in real time. By utilizing this tool, the numerous iterations inherent in the process when the designer has to manually modify the design are eliminated. The Arbitrary Shape Deformation technology (ASD) used by SculptorT automatically alters shapes that are typically very complex and hard to manipulate into designs that improve performance-without having to remesh.
Automated CFD engineering design has centered on shape optimization, which has been hindered by two major problems:
• Inadequate shape change parameterization; and
• Inadequate algorithms for CFD grid modification
Optimal Solutions' SculptorT, with its ASD technology, controls and manipulates the shape change of any geometry and represents a major advancement in solving these two problems.
