IC Manage To Deliver Next Generation IC Design Data Management System

IC Manage, Inc. ( http://www.icmanage.com ) announced its official company launch, offering its next generation IC design management system to improve designer productivity and eliminate the problems associated with tracking and configuring designs. Unlike conventional file oriented solutions, IC Manage's database approach delivers the performance, capacity and reliability necessary to handle today's designs. The IC Manage solution can manage, track, and configure an entire enterprise's design data, resulting in higher design team productivity.

IC Manage's system delivers comprehensive configuration management that allows engineers to intuitively manage the complex environments needed when designing at multiple levels of abstraction and when re-using components. The IC Manage solution eliminates the widespread problems caused by copying the design or components in order to manage changes during the development process.

IC Manage is the commercial evolution of cdsp4, a successful Open Source integration developed in 1998 between the Perforce Fast Software Configuration Management (SCM) System and the Cadence Design Framework II tools. Shiv Sikand, Vice President of Engineering at IC Manage, originally developed cdsp4 to streamline the MIPS processor and Advanced Graphics development at Silicon Graphics Inc. Cdsp4 is in use at many companies, including NVIDIA and ATI Technologies, and has been an integral part of the flow for a large number of successful designs.

"The success of cdsp4 convinced us that there is a need for a high performance commercial solution," said Dean Drako, President and CEO of IC Manage. "Instead of using older RCS-derived tools, we are developing a solution building on the capabilities of Perforce to deliver performance, capacity, and reliability far superior to existing solutions."

IC Manage, via an exclusive arrangement with Perforce Software, Inc, incorporates the Perforce Fast SCM System in its solution. The Perforce System provides IC Manage an efficient and powerful database.

"We have been collaborating with Mr. Sikand since 1998, adding specific features to better support his efforts in IC design," said Christopher Seiwald, President and CTO of Perforce Software and IC Manage board member. "While the development model for hardware might seem very different than software, asset management is an integral part of both models and Perforce is ideally suited to bring greater accuracy, control and productivity to the hardware design environment."

IC Manage is currently undergoing beta testing at a major semiconductor company and general availability is scheduled for early summer.

IC Manage is demonstrating its beta product in booth 738 at this year's Design Automation Conference in San Diego, June 7 - 11, 2004.

Perforce Software Inc. develops, markets, and supports Perforce, the Fast Software Configuration Management System. Headquartered in Alameda, Calif., Perforce Software sells worldwide and has international operations in Europe, Japan and Israel. In addition to application software companies, Perforce customers represent a broad range of industries including the game development, electronics, pharmaceutical and financial services markets. IC Manage Management Team

Dean Drako, President and CEO

Dean was the founder, President and CEO of Velosel Corporation prior to founding IC Manage. At Velosel, Dean closed two rounds of venture financing and built the product and company strategy. Dean was also the founder of Boldfish, a provider of enterprise messaging solutions that was acquired by Siebel Systems in 2003. Prior to Boldfish, Dean was founder, President and CEO of Design Acceleration, Inc (DAI), a maker of superior design analysis and verification tools. Cadence Design Systems acquired DAI in 1998. Dean has also been VP of Product Engineering at the 3DO Company and was instrumental in the development of the PowerPC architecture at Apple Computer. Dean received his BSEE from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and MSEE from the University of California, Berkeley.

Shiv Sikand, Vice President of Engineering

Shiv first started tackling the problems related to design data management at HaL Computer Systems during the SPARC v9 development program. It was while working on the MIPS processor families at SGI that he designed, implemented and deployed cdsp4, the Cadence-Perforce integration after extensive research. It was used extensively within MIPS and in the Advanced Graphics Division. After cdsp4 was Open Sourced, he worked closely with a large group of design professionals in Silicon Valley to enhance his original work. Prior to founding IC Manage, Shiv was at Matrix Semiconductor working on the world's first three-dimensional memory chips. He did his post-graduate research on the design of asynchronous controllers at the University of Manchester, UK in collaboration with ARM Ltd, Philips Research Labs in Holland and IMEC in Belgium. Shiv received his BSc and MSc degrees in Physics and Electrical Engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology.

Gary Gendel, Chief Software Architect

Gary has had a very distinguished and prolific career in hardware and software development. His expertise spans a broad range of technical disciplines including developing Integrated Circuits, EDA software, and embedded software products. For the last 13 years Gary has been the CTO of Genashor where he did development work for a number of EDA and other companies including: Mentor Graphics, Zycad, Protocol, Valid, Apple, IBM, Harris Semiconductor, Sarnoff Corporation, Star Semiconductor, HAL Computer Systems, SGI, AT&T, Nordic VLSI, and Christiania Bank as well as supporting Amulet project at the University of Manchester. Prior to Genashor, Gary was a Senior Member of the Technical Staff at RCA Solid State Technology Center, GE Semiconductor and Harris Semiconductor. Gary is widely published, has been granted three patents, and has received the following awards: several Sarnoff Outstanding Technical Achievement team and individual awards, an RCA SSD Technical Excellence Award, and the prestigious RCA David Sarnoff Award for Outstanding Technical Achievement. He has received two Emmy awards from the National Academy of Television Sciences for his development work in Digital television. Gary received his BSEE and MS (Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Biomedical Technology) from New Jersey Institute of Technology.

Stephen R. Pollock, Vice President of Marketing

Steve is an industry veteran with over 30 years of senior marketing, engineering, and sales experience in the electronic design industry plus a strong chip design and verification background early in his career at Texas Instruments and CalTex Semiconductor (acquired by Fairchild Semiconductor). Prior to joining IC Manage Steve consulted with Anasift Technology, an analog synthesis company, to set up their initial marketing and sales and continues as a member of the Anasift technical advisory board. His recent experience includes VP of Marketing at Real Intent, Director of Marketing for Simulation Products at Cadence Design Systems, and VP of Marketing for Design Acceleration. He has also held senior marketing and sales positions at Racal-Redac, Silicon Compilers, and Intersil. He is a past member of the EDAC Board of Directors, currently Chairman of the EDAC Emerging Companies Committee and a member of the DAC Exhibitor Liaison Committee. Steve received his BSEE from Drexel University.
