Tenison Makes IP Evaluation Simple
Tenison EDA, providing System Emulation in SoftwareT to its IC design customers worldwide, announced its newest product, VTOC® Export, for secure and licensable IP distribution of C++ models based on its popular VTOC Generate tool. VTOC Generate creates fast, cycle-accurate executable models in SystemC and C++ of existing IP hardware models written in RTL. VTOC Export then provides an embedded licensing scheme that allows users to control distribution of the secure models to their customers, partners, or internal organizations.
Using VTOC Export, models of IP are distributable to third parties while remaining under authorized control, yet provide high-speed accurate functionality for the customer to evaluate the IP for use or purchase. The models created with VTOC Export do not require the customer to own VTOC Generate in order to execute, but do require an authorization code from the distributor.
Tenison's ( http://www.tenison.com ) first product, VTOC Generate, generates a C++ or SystemC model from existing RTL. These models can then be used to accelerate product verification with high speed C++ models, provide an easy method to reuse existing RTL IP in new SystemC architecture designs, and provide early access to virtual models in C++ that easily link into the software design process speeding software development.
Many VTOC users wanted the ability to easily send models to customers or partners, according to Jeremy Bennett, Tenison EDA president & CEO. "VTOC Export is quite a popular feature," he said. "Giving someone a secure, easily accessible, fast, accurate model of an existing or developing IP block has huge business implications."
Bennett explained that with VTOC Export, C++ models of a system can be sent to customers long before, and at much less cost, than actually waiting for silicon and prototype hardware to be available. This means much faster access to many more customers by simply exporting and supporting models. Similarly the support can now be done online, and through file swapping directly with corporate applications engineers, greatly enhancing customer feedback and reducing field support costs.
Licenses for VTOC Generate, VTOC RunTime, VTOC Validate, VTOC Export, are available now. Entry-level pricing for an annual VTOC Generate license is $75,000. Use of VTOC Export requires a VTOC Generate license by the distributor but not by the user. For each model exported, a one-time low-cost license is purchased, making the IP model fully executable and controllable.
