Epson Signs New Volume Purchase Agreement for Novas Debug Systems

Novas Software, Inc. announced that Seiko Epson Corporation ("Epson") is expanding its integration of Novas software as the standard platform for integrated circuit (IC) debug. A new volume purchase agreement nearly doubles the number of Novas licenses already deployed within Epson's Semiconductor Operation Division, which designs ICs used in a broad range of electronics devices, including printers, digital cameras and personal digital assistants.

"Our engineers deal with the complexities of chip verification in the digital era on a daily basis, and functional debug is an integral part of their methodology," said Mr. Shigeo Tsuruoka, manager of IC Design Department, Semiconductor Operation Division at Seiko Epson Corp. "Novas DebussyŽ Debug System has been the standard logic design debug tool at Epson for several years. We're now making it more widely available within our entire engineering organization to further enhance the efficiency of our semiconductor product development teams."

Novas ( http://www.novas.com ) debug systems accelerate the process of understanding complex design behavior with a single environment for debugging Verilog and VHDL designs, testbench code and assertions. Highly automated visualization, analysis and tracing tools address design complexity as well as intellectual property (IP) and design reuse issues by helping engineers comprehend complicated or unfamiliar code. Engineers can automatically extract, capture and publish their understanding of design behavior to further aid debug and product documentation of IC designs, IP components, reusable design blocks and systems-on-chip (SoC) platforms. This unified approach significantly improves overall design and verification productivity with users consistently reporting that Novas products cut their debug time in half.

Dedicated to providing its customers with digital image innovation, the Epsom Group's main product lines comprise information-related equipment such as printers and projectors, electronic devices including displays, liquid crystal panels for projectors, semiconductors and quartz devices, and precision products such as watches. The Epson Group is a network of 84,899 employees in 110 companies around the world. Led by the Japan-based Seiko Epson Corp., the Group had consolidated sales of 1,413 billion yen in fiscal 2003.
