Philips Extends and Expands Standardization on Synopsys Galaxy Front-End Design Platform for Advanced Semiconductor Process Technologies

Synopsys, Inc. ( http://www.synopsys.com ) announced that Royal Philips Electronics has signed a new multi-year volume purchase agreement with Synopsys, extending and expanding deployment of Synopsys GalaxyT front-end design platform for Philips' semiconductor activities. The new agreement also expands Philips' use of Galaxy tools in the key design areas of power management and design-for-testability. Philips will use the products mainly for designs targeting its CMOS090 (90 nanometer) and CMOS065 (65 nanometer) semiconductor processes and beyond.

"Philips' standardization on Galaxy front-end tools in its reference design flow contributes to the first-time right success rate of its advanced products. Getting a single reference design flow using the best EDA tools available is important in helping reach this goal," said Lambert van den Hoven, vice president and general manager, Design Technology Group (DTG), Philips Semiconductors. "With the recent electronics recession behind us, Philips' semiconductor division has turned its attention to growth and the Synopsys agreement is structured to grow with our business. We have been successful with Synopsys' tools for many years and we look forward to continue this successful partnership."
