CoWare Joins SPIRIT Consortium to Advance Electronic System Level (ESL) IP Interoperability
CoWare, Inc. ( http://www.coware.com ), announced that it has joined the SPIRIT (Structure for Packaging, Integrating and Re-using IP within Tool-flows) Consortium. The Consortium, which is working to develop standards to promote Intellectual Property (IP) interoperability in EDA tool flows, has already made considerable progress at the Register Transfer Level (RTL). Upon finalization of this important initial standard, SPIRIT is turning its attention to standards for IP interoperability at the Electronic System Level (ESL), particularly for SystemC IP models at the transaction level. Many of the Consortium members, including CoWare in collaboration with Cadence Design Systems, Inc., are demonstrating tool interoperability here at DAC, for IP blocks provided by ARM, Philips and STMicroelectronics.
The Structure for Packaging, Integrating and Re-using IP within Tool-flows (SPIRIT) consortium was created to develop a standard for more efficient integration of IP in System-on-Chip (SoC) platform design in two areas: IP meta-data description and a tool integration API. The consortium's founder membership is comprised of leading EDA, IP and system and semiconductor companies, including ARM, Cadence Design Systems Inc., Mentor Graphics, Royal Philips Electronics, STMicroelectronics and Synopsys Inc.
