Avery Design and GDA Technologies Expand Partnership to Advanced Switching

Avery Design Systems Inc.( http://www.avery-design.com ), a supplier of functional verification, and GDA Technologies, GDA Technologies, a provider of Silicon Intellectual Property (SIP) and Electronic Design Services (EDA), announced the expansion of their partnership to address design and verification IP solutions for PCI Express and Advanced Switching Interconnect. Avery and GDA currently offer the GPEX IP family, a suite of comprehensive design and verification IP solutions for PCI Express Endpoint, Root Complex, Bridge, and Switch designs. The Advanced Switching verification solution is offered by Avery and GDA both independently and as part of GPEX. Avery verification IP solutions are offered as the PCI-Xactor product family.

GDA Advanced Switching IP core (GPEX-AS) is a flexible and configurable port controller design targeted for both PCI-Express and Advanced Switching technology implementations in compute and communication applications. GPEX-AS is part of GDA's PCI-Express (GPEX) family of IP solutions that includes End Point (GPEX-EP) and Root Complex (GPEX-RC) designs. GPEX-AS supports both PCI-Express and AS protocols. The controller architecture is tailored to address the needs of different market segments with highly configurable system PIs and support for PI-8, SLS, SQ, SDT and software PIs.

The PCI-Xactor for Advanced Switching Verification Solution is a complete verification solution consisting of Bus Function Model (BFM), SuperMonitor, and test suites and verification frameworks for functional verification of Advanced Switching components. The PCI-Xactor allows design and verification engineers to test the entire functionality of their Advanced Switching compliant devices. Verification frameworks form complete testbench environments for endpoint, switch, and host/IO switch designs. Verification engineers just need to replace an Avery BFM with their design and begin running comprehensive verification tests. The PCI-Xactor environment leverages advanced verification techniques of Avery's TestWizard product supporting complex data structures, transaction database, random generation, temporal property checking, and coverage analysis.

Key Features

•  Complete set of fully functional BFMs and testbenches for every Advanced Switching component: Endpoints/Fabric Manager, N-Port Switch, Host/IO Switch

•  Fabric Manager model provides the fabric discovery and configuration which allows the designer to verify designs earlier to catch driver setup problems

•  Support for serial, 10b-bit symbol, and PIPE interfaces.

•  BFM API supports Unicast and Multicast AS packets and all Protocol Interfaces and automates sending TLP/DLLP and controlling BFM device response and link state

•  Inject errors and noise at various layers

•  Test suites include compliance tests from ASI-SIG, random, error, and link-level stress tests

•  Test are developed as self-checking, portable, and reusable on any type of design

•  SuperMonitor verifies transaction completion and ordering in N-port switch

GDA Technologies, Inc. ( http://www.gdatech.com ) is a design services company specializing in embedded, networking and consumer electronic designs.
