Informative Graphics' Free ModelPress Reader 4.2 Adds STL, VRML, OpenHSF Downloads Soar to One Hundred Fifty Thousand

Informative Graphics Corporation (IGC) announced that the new version 4.2 of its free ModelPress Reader supports STL (stereo-lithography), CAD exported VRML (virtual-reality markup language), and HSF (OpenHSF). ModelPress Reader opens these popular standard file formats as well as IGC's own 3DF and ISF, generated by ModelPress Publisher.

IGC President and CEO Gary Heath says that adding HSF to ModelPress opens it up for possible use by companies adopting the OpenHSF initiative technology.

"The popularity of ModelPress compels us to make it even more attractive for a wider spectrum of users, companies and applications," says Mr. Heath. "ModelPress Reader presents a great user interface that is versatile, fast, and easy to integrate and distribute. Combined with Visual RightsT protected 3DF and the ability to open popular 3D formats, ModelPress is a very efficient vehicle for downstream 3D," he added.

The free ModelPress 3D model publish-to-view system uses a proprietary compression algorithm to optimize large 3D data sets for network distribution. ModelPress Publisher converts a wide range of 3D formats into the new 3DF (three-dimensional format) format for display using the free ModelPress Reader. The 3DF format is designed to identify IGC as the provider of secure, PDF-like publishing of 3D models to the web, email, and other forms of electronic file sharing. 3DF publishing incorporates IGC's Visual RightsT persistent security technology, allowing content authors to apply a full compliment of security controls to their model files, including password protection, hard or relative viewing expiration dates, allow/disallow printing and copying, and the ability to hide the interior details of a model completely.
