MSC.Software Announces $4 Million Gift-In-Kind to UC Irvine School of Engineering
MSC.Software Corp. ( http://www.mscsoftware.com ) announced that it has awarded more than $4 million in software and services to The Henry Samueli School of Engineering and the School of Physical Sciences at University of California, Irvine (UCI). This donation represents an on-going effort by MSC.Software to provide leading academic institutions around the world with software needed for computer-aided engineering and simulation courses that teach students to virtually engineer and design products, while learning to accelerate development time and meet increased productivity demands.
"We are very pleased to have MSC.Software as a steady partner in educating our students over the years with their continuously updated design software in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. This is an exemplary partnership with industry, much needed in modern engineering schools, to ensure that we graduate students who are not obsolete upon graduation. Our industrial partners are a key to our future success and we thank MSC.Software for their strong participation and contributions," said Nicolaos G. Alexopoulos, Dean of the Henry Samueli School of Engineering.
MSC.Software has partnered with UCI since 1986. The total value of this gift recognizes a pledge promised through 2007. The software provided to UCI includes MSC.Nastran, MSC.Patran, MSC.Marc and MSC.ADAMS, along with additional analysis integration packages. Students taking mechanical engineering courses in computer-aided technology use the software.
The Henry Samueli School of Engineering encompasses the departments of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Chemical and Biochemical Engineering and Materials Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
