Theorem Provides '2 in 1' Capabilities with Latest Bi-Directional Unigraphics to CATIA v5 Translators

Theorem Solutions has announced updated versions of their bi-directional translators for UNIGRAPHICS and CATIA V5. These new translators bring unique benefits to their users.

The CATIA V5 Assembly Design application allows the user to attach native CATIA V4 parts into a CATIA V5 CATProduct assembly structure. This is especially beneficial to users who are using both CATIA V4 & CATIA V5 in a mixed design activity and who want to maintain their CATIA V4 data in its native format. Theorem's updated translator will now process the complete CATProduct processing both native CATParts and native CATIA V4 data collectively.

This means that for users of assemblies that support both CATIA V5 and CATIA V4 component files, there will be no need to undertake any pre-processing of CATProducts before translation, or to translate their components separately. Theorem's CATIA V5 translator will generate UNIGRAPHICS assemblies and parts from the hybrid CATIA assembly.

Where CATIA V5 assemblies are concerned, the user of this new Theorem translator doesn't even have to know if he has just CATIA V5 data or a hybrid assembly. The translator detects the CATIA data type, and automatically applies the correct translation. The user has in effect two translation capabilities within a single product.

Although newly developed, Theorem is taking the view that for their existing customers, this new technology is an upgrade. This means that all those who have a maintenance contract for their original CATIA V5 to Unigraphics translator will receive the additional benefit of this extra capability without additional charge.

Trevor Leeson, Marketing Manager at Theorem commented "CAD data translation is no longer simply a case of translating files. The complexity of the modern PLM workplace demands that every effort is made to simplify workflow and pass the benefits of time saved onto the customer. In addition, customers need to know that the CAD translation software solutions they install have the active support of their PLM vendors. In this latest UNIGRAPHICS-CATIA V5 translator, we believe Theorem has set new standards for both of these requirements."
