UGS Announces Availability of New Teamcenter Multi-CAD Engineering Collaboration Solution

UGS announced a new Teamcenter® multi-computer-aided-design (CAD) engineering collaboration solution.

The new multi-CAD solution integrates JT visualization technology to support engineering collaboration across diverse CAD authoring environments. This capability enables customers to bring data from multiple CAD authoring sources into Teamcenter-then visualize it, measure it, analyze interference, mark it and share it.

Unlike other products that focus simply on managing CAD design files, most often for a single CAD system, Teamcenter's integrated visualization capabilities support true engineering collaboration. Teamcenter automatically synchronizes and manages CAD and visualization data allowing multi-site design team members to automatically navigate complex assembly structures. Teamcenter's visualization and mockup capabilities make it easy for teams to analyze and validate multi-CAD designs on a continuous basis, while preserving and maintaining the native CAD data format to ensure that multi-site design teams are working from the same information.

The vast product knowledge that is captured, managed and shared in Teamcenter allows companies to streamline engineering processes, analyze and validate design change impact quickly and improve design reuse. The result is improved design throughput, simplified design review, better quality and more time for product innovation.

"The ability to manage a diverse array of CAD assets in a unified PLM environment is a critical requirement for our globally dispersed and diverse customers," said Steve Bashada, vice president of Teamcenter Applications, UGS. "Teamcenter is a natural choice for customers with multiple CAD systems, and also provides a solution for customers with a single CAD system who would like to continuously validate the design against geometry from OEMs or suppliers with different CAD systems."
