Durability and Fatigue Seminars Coming to Midwest

ITI Manta, a subsidiary of International TechneGroup Incorporated (ITI), announces a series of Fatigue and Durability seminars to be held in Greater Cincinnati on October 11 - 15 and the Toldeo / Detroit Metro area on November 8 - 12, 2004.

Courses provide basic and advanced introduction to modern theories of fatigue and their practical application. Attendees will learn about material stress / fatigue, optimizing designs to reduce fatigue, and technologies available to analyze models predicting areas of concern.

Professor John Draper of Safe Technology (United Kingdom) will be the instructor. Professor Draper has over 25 years experience in fatigue design and fatigue life assessment in the aerospace and ground-vehicle industries. He is a recognized authority in the industry, and a regular presenter at conferences and seminars worldwide-Including conferences for ABAQUS and ANSYS users around the world, the ASTM Symposium on Residual Stress Effects on Fatigue and Fracture Testing, and more. Professor Draper is the Chairman of the Engineering Integrity Society in the UK and a member of the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers).

Durability by Design

Date:   October 11 (Cincinnati)

           November 8 (Toledo/Detroit)

Fee:    No charge

This seminar is designed to illustrate problems that can now be solved using durability analysis software for FEA models. A technology update in key areas of fatigue analysis such as multiaxial fatigue, effects of temperature, notch sensitivity and residual stresses will be provided.

The seminar will cover:

•  An introduction to modern methods of metal fatigue analysis
•  Theory overview of uniaxial & multiaxial fatigue
•  Case studies & tools demonstrations
•  An introduction to using fe-safe with FE software
•  Highlights of advanced and unique capabilities in fe-safe such as a fully integrated signal processing capability, high temperature and creep fatigue, fe-rotate, analysis of complex loading histories

Fundamentals of Modern Metal Fatigue Analysis

Date:   October 12-13 (Cincinnati)

           November 9-10 (Toledo/Detroit)

Fee:   $595 (attend all 4 Modern Metal Fatigue Analysis days for $995)

Design and Test Engineers responsible for product durability in the ground vehicle, aerospace and manufacturing industries should attend. No previous knowledge of fatigue is necessary.

The seminar will cover:

•  Introduction to fatigue
•  Local stress-strain fatigue
•  Materials data
•  Signal analysis for fatigue
•  Using stress-life data
•  Examples of fatigue failures & fatigue tests
•  Geometric effects
•  Fatigue analysis in practice

Advanced Modern Metal Fatigue Analysis

Date:   October 14-15 (Cincinnati)

           November 11-12 (Toledo/Detroit)

Fee:    $595 (attend for all 4 Modern Metal Fatigue Analysis days for $995)

Design Engineers responsible for product durability in the ground vehicle, aerospace and manufacturing industries should attend.   A basic knowledge of fatigue or attendance in the "Fundamentals of Modern Metal Fatigue Analysis" listed above is recommended.

The seminar will cover:

•  Introduction to biaxial fatigue
•  Biaxial fatigue using equivalent stress/strain
•  Critical plane analysis
•  Fatigue lives from finite element models
•  Statistics & reliability
•  Crack growth analysis
•  Fatigue of welded joints
•  Fatigue lives from the PSD
•  Fatigue test & design
•  Additional advanced topics
