Embedded Systems, EDA & Test Conferences Set To Open Next Week To Showcase Latest Technologies For Design Engineers

Global Sources Ltd. announced that leading international technology vendors will take part in the upcoming 4th Embedded Systems Conferences-Asia (ESC- Asia) and the 12th Electronic Design Automation & Test-Taiwan (EDA&T-Taiwan) Conference & Exhibition at the Lakeshore Hotel in Hsinchu, Taiwan on July 28 and 29.

Organized by eMedia Asia Ltd., the joint-venture company between Global Sources and CMP Media LLC, the same events last year attracted 3,000 engineers, designers and technical managers from Taiwan.

ESC-Asia is part of CMP Media's Embedded Systems Conference series, the world's largest embedded technology event held annually in Europe, the United States and China.

Mark A. Saunderson, president of the Global Sources-CMP Media joint- venture company said: "Taiwan's domestic IC industry is among the largest and most vibrant in the region with projected industry value of US$34 billion in 2004. Our co-located events provide technology vendors with the opportunity to meet Taiwan's IC design community under one roof, and provide Taiwan engineers the opportunity to interact with and learn directly from, leading innovators in their field." .TABLE Comprehensive educational opportunities Three forums will be held during EDA&T-Taiwan and ESC-Asia.

The EDA&T-Taiwan forum will be titled "Understanding the Next Phase of Taiwan's IC Design Roadmap" for EDA and test engineers and managers who want to explore viable next-generation chip architectures and business strategies. Joseph Ting, corporate senior VP of Etron Technology will moderate the discussion. Featured speakers will be from Synopsys, VIA Technologies and Socle Technology.

The ESC-Asia forum, "Powering Next-Generation Embedded Devices" will tackle low-power firmware and hardware strategies for embedded systems. Hosted by Karen Kou, managing editor of Global Sources' EE Times-Taiwan magazine, the forum will feature experts from MontaVista Software, Wind River, RichTek and Renesas.

The Tech forum, jointly held by EDA&T-Taiwan and ESC-Asia, will cover "SoC Design for 2005 Functionality". Speakers will be from MIPS Technologies, Global Unichip, Linpus Technologies, Mentor Graphics and Artisan Components Inc. Dr. Chein-Wei Jen, general director of the SoC Technology Center at ITRI, will facilitate discussions on achieving higher levels of integration and flexibility in system design.

Latest product innovations

Running parallel to the ESC-Asia conference will be a two-day exhibition featuring leading companies and their latest embedded technologies: Agilent's new logic analysis system; Faraday's ASIC design service and IP business; and Sharp's BlueStreak ARM-based SoC. Other companies at the exhibition include Metrowerks, Optimal and Wind River.

In addition, the latest EDA & testing tools will be showcased, including Mentor Graphics' Calibre RET, Legend Design's CharFlo-Memory tool set, and Ansoft's Ansoft Designer complete circuit design platform.
