PSA Peugeot Citroen Signs Multi-Million Dollar Deal for Tecnomatix eMPower Solutions and Service

PSA Peugeot Citroen, the largest automotive OEM in France and the second-largest in Europe, has selected Tecnomatix eMPowerT solutions and services for the final phase of its worldwide digital factory implementation.

The agreement, valued at several million dollars over the course of its two-year term, comes after a year-long pilot project. PSA Peugeot Citroen has purchased several seats of the Tecnomatix eMPower CarBody solution for a phased roll-out. This new purchase follows on the success of a first deployment of Tecnomatix solutions across PSA Peugeot Citroen's powertrain division at the beginning of 2004.

Following an extensive competitive evaluation period, PSA Peugeot Citroen chose eMPower as its mainstream Manufacturing Process Management (MPM) solution for the CarBody, and Tecnomatix as its partner for achieving this ambitious goal. PSA Peugeot Citroen will use the eMPower solutions during the Body-In-White pre-planning and process definition stages to evaluate resource allocation, validate assembly scenarios, minimize the impact of product variances and improve collaboration capabilities across line builders and throughout the supply chain.

"PSA Peugeot Citroen has demonstrated a strong commitment to growth, recognizing that a robust MPM solution is a key component in meeting its business goals," said Jaron Lotan, president and chief executive officer, Tecnomatix Technologies. "PSA Peugeot Citroen's digital factory strategy, embodied in its INGENUM project and supported by eMPower solutions, provides a strong platform for future growth-allowing PSA Peugeot Citroen to respond more rapidly to changes in consumer demand and new manufacturing technologies. Tecnomatix's ability to integrate our eMPower solutions with PSA Peugeot Citroen's existing IT environment, along with our proven expertise in the Body-In-White area, were key to PSA Peugeot Citroen's decision to deepen its investment in Tecnomatix Technologies and our eMPower solutions for MPM."

The eMPower CarBody solution being implemented by PSA Peugeot Citroen includes the following eMPower products:

•  eM-Planner and Process Designer for complete 3D process design (operation, part and resource) across all plants of the division to support all manufacturing activities
•  eM-Weld for the validation of weld points (in terms of both feasibility and reach ability) and gun selection
•  eM-Workplace for robotics simulation
•  eM-Assembler for assembly studies and test
•  eM-Human for operator view at workstation
•  eBOP Manager and eBOP Browser for data sharing and data consulting

PSA Peugeot Citroen ranks among the world's leading automotive groups. A business with significant technological, industrial, financial and commercial presence, the Group draws its strength from its two volume brands, Peugeot and Citroen, from the skills of its 200 000 employees around the world, and from a stable shareholder base. In 2003, PSA Peugeot Citroen reported stable sales volumes with 3.286.100 cars sold worldwide and consolidated its position as Europe's No. 2 car manufacturer.
