IMSI to Integrate Component Technology from UGS' D-Cubed Subsidiary into its TurboCAD Professional Software
UGS ( http://www.ugs.com ) and software developer IMSI ( http://www.imsisoft.com ) announced that IMSI will integrate component technology from UGS' D-Cubed subsidiary into its TurboCAD Professional software. The agreement marks D-Cubed's first announced customer contract since it became a UGS subsidiary on June 30.
IMSI's TurboCAD Professional is a versatile 2D/3D computer-aided design (CAD) application offering high performance at a competitive price. The agreement announced today enables IMSI to integrate D-Cubed's 2D Dimensional Constraint Manager (2D DCM) into TurboCAD Professional - thus eliminating the need to develop a similar capability in-house.
"The decision to license this technology to provide advanced constraint solving in IMSI's flagship product will create tremendous value for our customers by enabling us to offer more robust and complete design and manufacturing solutions to the professional mechanical CAD and CAM markets," said Bob Mayer, IMSI executive vice president of Precision Design Products. "When an industry proven solution such as 2D DCM is available from a supplier with the excellent track record of D-Cubed, there really is no other strategy that makes more commercial and technical sense."
Software solutions from D-Cubed, a wholly owned subsidiary of UGS, are part of UGS' PLM Components family of products. D-Cubed develops software components for the CAD/CAM/CAE application development industry in all areas of geometric, solid and variational/parametric modeling. Many of the world's leading CAD/CAM/CAE vendors have adopted one or more of D?Cubed's widely respected component technologies for integration into their end-user applications.
