Haldor Topsoe Selects Intergraph Process, Power & Marine SmartPlant Integrated Engineering Environment
The Process, Power & Marine division of Intergraph Corporation announced that Haldor Topsoe A/S of Denmark, a firm providing heterogeneous catalysts, licensed technologies and catalytic process engineering worldwide, has signed a long-term software and services agreement for SmartPlant® Foundation along with SmartPlant engineering tools and other software. Haldor Topsoe will implement the SmartPlant Foundation information and workflow management software and its accompanying integration architecture, The Engineering Framework, in a phased program to replace its current Integrated Engineering System (IES). The agreement provides unlimited licenses for use of the Intergraph software portfolio integrated through SmartPlant Foundation. SmartPlant Foundation is projected to support more efficient engineering work processes for several hundred users in the company's Technology Division, which serves global plant owner/operators and engineering, procurement and construction firms. The agreement represents standardization on Intergraph tools and integration by Haldor Topsoe.
Jorgen Madsen, director of technology and engineering section, Haldor Topsoe, said, "In evaluating Intergraph solutions, we found that the SmartPlant philosophy of data-centric engineering was in line with our vision for the Haldor Topsoe IES. Our long term goal is to use SmartPlant Foundation as a single source for handling all project engineering information. We are to a rapidly increasing extent today exchanging data rather than, or as supplement to, exchanging documents with our customers. Our customers need data from HTAS to be imported into their own IT tools for further processing. To import data directly, instead of retyping from documents, will benefit our customers by reducing the overall project execution time."
Lars Simonsen, IES department head, Haldor Topsoe, said, "After SmartPlant Foundation becomes the center of our IES, we foresee a higher efficiency, fewer errors and less routine work. As in most of the industry, much time is required for data consistency checks. We want to further enhance our engineers' focus on the actual engineering work and believe intelligent, integrated use of SmartPlant Foundation would help us in this."
