Carnegie Mellon University Continues to Rely on Monterey for Affordable and Reliable IC Design and Manufacturing Research

Monterey Design Systems ( http://www.montereydesign.com ) announced the continuation of its academic program with Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), which has used Monterey's Dolphin Physical Implementation System for the past several years in a research program to optimize the performance vs. cost of trade-off in the development of Via Patterned Gate Array (VPGA) chips and discover more affordable and reliable design structures in IC design and manufacturing.

According to Dr. Lawrence Pileggi, professor of electrical and computer engineering and director of the Center of Silicon System Implementation (CSSI) at CMU, Monterey's Dolphin product has provided all the capabilities of an advanced physical synthesis and place & route tool while also giving CMU the flexibility to control specific design parameters in their VPGA development.
