Okino Computer Graphics Announces Support for Native AutoCAD® 2005 DWG Files for its PolyTrans®, NuGraf®, and 3dsmax®+ Maya® Plug-in Systems

Okino Computer Graphics, a provider of 3D photo-realistic rendering, visualization and data translation solutions to the enterprise Fortune 1000 market for over a decade, announced the availability of updated native AutoCAD DWG 2005 import support in all of its version 4.1 PolyTrans, NuGraf, PolyTrans-for-3dsmax and PolyTrans-for-Maya software programs.

Okino's software line incorporates and builds upon the strengths and cross-industry successes of the Open Design Alliance's DWGdirect programming libraries, which support OpenDWG - their documented version of the undocumented and proprietary DWG file format used by Autodesk's AutoCAD. Okino uses DWGdirect as a pre-processor to decrypt all versions of the proprietary DWG file format, including versions 2.5, 2.6, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15/2000, 2002, 2004 and the new 2005. Once decrypted and processed, the data is fed into Okino's own AutoCAD front-end parser, importer and conversion system, which has remained rock-solid and error-free for nearly 12 years. Few people realize that DWG files contain encrypted ACIS solid entities, which the new DWGdirect 2005 libraries decode, mesh, and convert for downstream use.

"I have been waiting for the ideal time to release this new DWG 2005 support for inclusion into our spectrum of software products," said Robert Lansdale, President & CEO of Okino Computer Graphics, Inc. "The Open Design Alliance has been actively refining their support for the highly modified and encrypted AutoCAD DWG 2004 and 2005 file formats for over a year and a half. After 11 months of in-house and field testing , I am happy to say that DWGdirect 2005 has received our stamp of approval for Okino customer usage. In particular, the improvements in extraction, refinement and meshing of embedded ACIS solids provided by DWGdirect are very welcome. DWGdirect will make DWG data import and conversion a simpler, more reliable and transparent process to our users who need to transfer 3D asset data from AutoCAD or other programs supporting the DWG file format."
