Air Products Signs Global Software and Services Agreements with Intergraph Process, Power & Marine
The Process, Power & Marine division of Intergraph Corporation announced that Air Products and Chemicals Inc. has signed multi-year, global agreements to standardize on Intergraph software and engineering enterprise integration technology.
The contracts include software licenses and services as well as provisions for integrating the Aspen Technology Zyqad process modeling environment with Intergraph SmartPlant engineering and detail design work processes. The software portion of the agreements covers virtually all Process, Power & Marine software. Applications range from SmartPlant® Foundation bundled with The Engineering Framework for information and workflow management and integration to SmartPlant engineering and design tools such as SmartPlant 3D.
The company's large existing base of Intergraph PDS® (Plant Design System) will migrate to the advanced SmartPlant 3D environment for global workshare-enabled process plant modeling and integrated, data-centric engineering. Other software includes MARIAN® for materials and supply chain management, INtools® for instrumentation engineering, SmartPlant P&ID for piping and instrumentation diagram authoring and engineering, SmartPlant Electrical for electrical design engineering, SmartPlant Review for 3D visualization and SmartSketch® for precision drafting and diagramming
Air Products plans to implement the software throughout the next 18 months as it embarks on a global program to retool its engineering division to match substantial work process changes underway while supplanting in-house and other applications with commercial Intergraph software and integration technology. Air Products is also implementing the SAP ERP system and the engineering group will be included in the next implementation cycle. The Intergraph product suite is viewed as an integral part of the successful deployment of this ERP capability. Implementation sites include Air Products' engineering centers in Allentown, Pa., USA, and Hersham, UK, followed by Shanghai, China.
Vice President-Global Engineering, Robert Conley, Air Products, said, "Intergraph's strategic direction and technology for engineering information integration and management, embodied in The Engineering Framework, is consistent with Air Products' continuing innovation and needs. As exemplified by the SmartPlant 'intelligent' applications approach, Intergraph's technology and market leadership makes us confident in implementing SmartPlant tools as a cornerstone of our engineering optimization."
Jere Schneck, director-Global Engineering, Air Products, added, "It's absolutely essential that Air Products integrate process design and front-end engineering with detail design and engineering information and workflow management. The Intergraph and AspenTech strategic alliance and respective technologies make this possible in our overall re-tooling effort. As a result, we envision Air Products, Intergraph and AspenTech in a long-term, mutually beneficial relationship."
