FAW Bus and Coach Selects Solid Edge from UGS as its Mainstream Computer-Aided Design Software System
UGS announced FAW Bus and Coach Co. Ltd. (FAWBCC), a Chinese bus and coach supplier, selected Solid Edge® as its standard computer-aided design (CAD) software.
FAW Bus and Coach, based in ChangChun, the capital city of the JiLin province, licensed 30 seats of Solid Edge as the first step to replace its 2D CAD applications. The company will use Solid Edge to improve design efficiency and strengthen collaboration between designers. Solid Edge is now the standard software at FAW Bus and Coach and will be used to design automotive chassis parts and accessories as well as molds and tooling.
"Solid Edge ( http://www.solidedge.com/ ) will provide the ideal mainstream CAD platform," said Mrs. Jingjie Ma, chief technology officer for FAWBCC. "We evaluated several 3D CAD systems and rated Solid Edge as the best for modeling functionality, ease-of-use and interoperability. Solid Edge also has the strongest drafting tools, addressing the Chinese national GB standards that are essential for all our manufacturing environments."
FAW Bus and Coach also cited the customization capabilities and strong local support from Changchun MingWei Science and Technology Co. Ltd. (MW), a master reseller of Solid Edge in northeast China. "MW provided a large measure of confidence that Solid Edge was the right product to transition even more of our 2D systems to 3D," added Jingjie Ma.

FAW Bus and Coach is a subsidiary company of FAW Group and have bus and coach production bases in DaLian (coach), WuXi (bus) and the FAW Bus and Coach chassis factory.
