Cadence Virtuoso UltraSim Simulator Speeds Verification of TelASIC's Complex Mixed-Signal Design
Cadence Design Systems, Inc. ( http://www.cadence.com ) announced that its Virtuoso® UltraSim FastSPICE simulator was successfully deployed by TelASIC Communications, Inc. to verify the company's TC1410 analog/digital converter (ADC), the world's fastest ADC meeting the high-performance demands of the wireless, networking and broadband markets. The Virtuoso UltraSim simulator provided TelASIC a performance increase up to 10 times faster than its previous simulation solution enabling development of the TC1410 in record time while ensuring silicon accuracy-critical for analog designs.
"Using Virtuoso UltraSim, our designers were able to run multiple simulations on the entire ADC circuit in a few hours, producing accurate results and reducing our verification cycle from weeks to days," said Don Devendorf, chief technology officer of TelASIC. "This provided us with a significant time-to-market advantage for the TC1410 ADC, which is quickly being designed into applications such as cellular base stations, spectrum analyzers, medical imaging equipment and high-resolution displays."
The Virtuoso UltraSim simulator provides a comprehensive solution for analog verification and is complemented by theSPICE simulator, the Virtuoso Spectre® Circuit Simulator. Virtuoso UltraSim and Virtuoso Spectre technologies use the same models, ensuring the highest level of silicon accuracy is retained throughout the design and verification phase of integrated circuit (IC) development. Virtuoso UltraSim technology proved to be a drop-in design verification solution for TelASIC designers because they used the same Spectre netlist, models and design environment during their design phase.
The Virtuoso UltraSim simulator is an integral part of Cadence Virtuoso Multi-mode Simulation, offering all the simulation components necessary for validating an IC or system. Virtuoso Muti-mode Simulation provides a combination of SPICE, FastSPICE, AMS and RF simulation in a flexible single multi-mode simulation licensing model that maximizes the value of a customer's investment. Virtuoso Multi-mode Simulation is a cornerstone of the Virtuoso custom design platform.
