Techmire to Cut Weeks out of New System Development Time with SolidWorks Software

Techmire ( http://www.techmire.com ), a world leader in the field of multiple-slide die-casting technology, has chosen SolidWorks® 3D mechanical design software to reduce development time of systems that produce thousands of different die-cast components for a broad spectrum of industries. Techmire expects that SolidWorks, along with COSMOST design analysis software and PDMWorks® product data management tools, will cut weeks from design time for the custom die casting systems, and help Techmire meet customers' ever-shorter delivery schedules.

For more than 30 years, Montreal-based Techmire has pioneered multiple-slide die-casting technology for high precision components. Techmire's customers range in size from large multinational corporations to small custom die-casting shops, and are located in more than 30 countries. These companies use Techmire equipment to produce components such as automotive locks and wiper heads, construction door sets and window mechanisms, electrical bushings and telephone parts, consumer camera parts and toys, and home appliance components for such products as blenders and washing machines.

"We evaluated several products and narrowed our search down to SolidWorks and Solid Edge," said Carl Thibault, director of engineering at Techmire. "SolidWorks places all of its design features into one intuitive window, so that engineers don't have to jump between different screens to accomplish simple tasks. This kind of ease of use will allow us to build precision into our custom machine designs while reducing our design cycles by as much as 10 percent."

Techmire will use SolidWorks, COSMOSWorksT design analysis software, and COSMOSMotionT motion analysis software to ensure that its machines will stand up to the rigors of the high-speed die casting process while making accurate products.

Techmire will manage the volumes of design data it generates and ensure version control with PDMWorks software. It will also use SolidWorks' eDrawingsT e-mail-enabled design

Techmire works with SolidWorks reseller SolidXperts for ongoing software training, implementation, and support.

SolidXperts is one of the largest SolidWorks resellers in Canada, helping clients streamline product design, analysis, and development to meet their competitive market needs. Through offices in Montreal and Quebec, SolidXperts sells and installs SolidWorks 3D mechanical design, COSMOS design analysis, and PDMWorks product data management software along with a full suite of SolidWorks and partner products. SolidXperts also provides comprehensive training and support to ensure its clients maximize productivity. For more information, visit the Web site at www.solidxperts.com.
