Engineous Enters into Licensing Agreement for Worldwide Deployment of FIPER Technology

Engineous Software, Inc. announced that they have signed a three-year agreement with GE Transportation (GET). This worldwide licensing agreement is for the deployment of Engineous' FIPER solution.

In 1999, GE and Engineous Software, Inc. along with the Goodrich Corporation, Parker Hannifin, Ohio University, and Ohio Aerospace Institute, won a $21.5M cost share award from the Advanced Technology Program of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for the development of a commercial, enterprise-class engineering analysis framework. A joint collaboration team was formed involving the companies above. Additional partners were selected to join this team, including ITI Transcendata, Engineering Intent, Stanford University and Fluent Inc.

The main objectives for the NIST award were to:

•  Develop an open, standards-based, enterprise class, engineering analysis framework.
•  Provide an environment that allows for true interoperability with heterogeneous CAD, CAE tools and computing platforms.
•  Develop a commercial environment that enables the secure federation of analysis across disparate engineering organizations.
•  Implement a distributed computing environment that will leverage emerging grid technologies and solutions.

"General Electric has played a key role in the development of the early versions of FIPER as the Principle Investigator on the NIST contract. Now with the official commercial release of FIPER v1.5 from Engineous Software, GET is ready to move into the next phase of adoption," said Richard Cedar, Manager of GET's Master Model and Tools Technology Section.

"The FIPER framework not only choreographs the important multi-disciplinary design analysis required to support complex systems like GET's revolutionary GEnx engine for Boeing's 7E7, but for the first time establishes an enterprise bridge that connects the analysis world to the PLM/PDM environments," according to Glenn Reis, Engineous VP of Business Development.

"Our agreement with GET is an exciting validation of the strategic significance of the FIPER solution," said Engineous' CEO, Janet Wylie. "This global, multi-year agreement further solidifies our long-standing relationship with the world's leader in aircraft engines."

Engineous Software, Inc.'s FIPER product is a web-based, distributed engineering process infrastructure that allows organizations to access, execute and reuse design tools and processes. Resources can be connected within an organization or through a global network of external partners and geographically dispersed design teams. Founded in 1996, Engineous operates numerous sales offices in the U.S., as well as wholly owned subsidiaries in Asia and Europe. Customers include leading Fortune 500 companies such as General Electric, General Motors, UTC/Pratt & Whitney, Honeywell, Lockheed Martin, Ford Motor Company, DaimlerChrysler US, Toyota, Nissan, Renault, Hitachi, Peugeot, MTU Aero Engines, TRW, BMW, Rolls Royce, and York International.
