GibbsCAM Advanced Options for Production Machining to be Demonstrated at IMTS 2004
Gibbs and Associates, developer of GibbsCAM, computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software for programming computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools, announced that they will be demonstrating the new Tombstone Management System (TMS) and Machine Simulation options for GibbsCAM at IMTS 2004 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois on September 8th - 15th, 2004.
Tombstone machining provides an effective way of moving more material through a machine tool while minimizing human intervention. Already in production use at a number of customer sites, the GibbsCAM TMS option allows the user to effectively duplicate piece part programs across multiple locations and sides of a tombstone. The overall time required to create multi-part processes are significantly reduced using TMS, sometimes as much as a tenth of the previous methods.
As a companion to the TMS option, the new GibbsCAM Machine Simulation option will also be demonstrated. Machine Simulation allows models of machine tools to be built to simulate and validate programmed machine tool motion prior to actually running the CNC program. This allows potential programming errors to be identified before they become very expensive mistakes out on the shop floor.
