Moldflow to Showcase New Design Through Manufacturing Solutions at K 2004
Moldflow Corporation announced its exhibition plans for K 2004, the world's largest plastics tradeshow, held every third year at the Dusseldorf Trade Fair Centre in Germany. At the show, which takes place from October 20-27, 2004, Moldflow will showcase its full spectrum of Design Analysis and Manufacturing Solutions at stand A64 in Hall 13.
NEW-With the release of MPI 5.0, Moldflow offers enhanced functionality for gas-assisted injection molding, part insert overmolding, 2-shot sequential overmolding and reactive molding. A more efficient meshing process results in faster and more accurate analysis results. Also new in MPI 5.0 are more in-depth analysis capabilities that make MPI 5.0 the definitive tool for analysis and simulation of highly complex injection molding processes.
Moldflow Plastics Advisers® (MPA®) 7.0 enables part and mold designers to predict and solve injection molding manufacturing problems at the earliest stage of product development. MPA's patented Dual Domain technology allows users to work directly from 3D solid CAD models without the need to create or view a finite element mesh. The Moldflow Part Adviser module allows designers to check the manufacturability of a part design when the cost of change is least-early in the design process. The analysis results can be used to address possible cosmetic issues such as weld lines, air traps and sink marks, and to determine a part thickness that minimizes material use without compromising quality.
Moldflow Mold Adviser module allows mold designers to analyze and simulate plastic flow through single cavity, multi-cavity and family molds. The user can optimize gate type, size and location as well as runner layout, size and cross-sectional shape. Analysis results include cycle time, clamp tonnage and shot size, all of which help the design-to-manufacturing team size the injection molding machine, minimize cycle times and reduce manufacturing waste. New add-on modules allow users to simulate more phases of the injection molding process and evaluate molded part performance and cooling circuit design.
Moldflow delivers a complete collaborative manufacturing management solution, for automated setup, optimization, control, and monitoring of the injection molding process.
Moldflow Plastics Xpert® (MPX®) v3.2 is an advanced control solution for the automatic setup, optimization and monitoring of the process window of an injection molding machine. Unlike other control solutions, MPX utilizes the advanced simulation capabilities of MPA and MPI to provide an initial process configuration. MPX interfaces with current injection molding machine control technology and provides on-line process correction with technology developed exclusively for the plastics injection molding industry.
NEW-CelltrackT v2.0 is a real-time Production Management system that can be attached to any type of cyclic equipment used for discrete manufacturing. The system continuously tracks and reports machine efficiencies and provides capabilities for work order management, job scheduling, mold and machine tracking and labeling. New for Celltrack v2.0 is the ability to schedule, manage and monitor manual tasks as well as those operating on machinery and the ability to track machine related labor activities. Available in English, French, Spanish, German and Italian, the product is ideal for multinational operations. Celltrack v2.0 will be demonstrated using a TabletPC, running in a wireless, shopfloor environment, giving the operator ultimate mobility.
NEW-Shotscope® Process Monitoring provides a wealth of "at a glance" information to improve productivity, minimize scrap and downtime, and optimize plant capacity. Shotscope can acquire data from up to 36 input channels: 8 analog, 12 digital and 16 single-points (thermocouples). It collects up to 10,000 data points per analog channel and stores up to 50 process parameters per shot. Shotscope displays the real-time status of every job and can communicate with other plant-management systems. When configured as such, Shotscope can activate alarms and part diverters when parts are out of spec and records statistical quality control (SQC) data such as part weight or dimension and associates it with specific process data for correlation with statistical process control (SPC) data. The latest version of Shotscope also features a new hybrid display that shows velocity and pressure as a function of position with a switch over to a time-based display in mid-cycle.
NEW-Shotscope FX portable analyzer can be moved from machine to machine for set-up, troubleshooting, machine capability studies, and part quality checks. Shotscope® FX can be easily expanded into a plant-wide monitoring solution as necessary.
NEW-Altanium® CX is a small footprint, hot runner process control solution that supports from two to 192 zones. Its modular design is highly scalable and features a single controller design and various user interfaces that are compatible with virtually any hot runner system or injection molding machine. Also on display will be NeoT, Moldflow's intuitive monochrome touchscreen operator interface for multilingual environments and Matrix®, the new benchmark in intelligent hot runner process control capabilities with a high-end color LCD touch screen and advanced setup and diagnostic capabilities.
