Altair Engineering Opens New Vehicle Development Laboratory in World Headquarters
Troy, Mich.-based Altair Engineering has announced the opening of a new, 10,000 sq. ft. vehicle development laboratory in the company's World Headquarters building.
According to David Mason, Altair's Michigan Regional Managing Director, "The new laboratory gives us a greater capacity, nearer to DCX and GM and Tier-1 suppliers in the area. The increased capacity allows us to support the fabrication and assembly needs of our customers."
Equipped with vehicle hoists, surface plates and a machine shop, the 10,000 sq. ft. facility is capable of supporting system and full-vehicle development, extending Altair's development capabilities beyond its existing Allen Park engineering center. The 8,400 sq. ft. Allen Park development laboratory is equipped with a vehicle alignment machine and suspension development facilities.
"We will continue to operate the Allen Park facility," Mason said. "The new Troy laboratory represents an extension both in our capacity and our ability to support customers who are geographically located closer to our Troy office. The new facility more than doubles our vehicle development capabilities."
The vehicle development facility will be used for model and prototype build, custom component fabrication, test fixture build and test instrumentation.
