Agile Teams with Adobe to Provide Intelligent Document Capabilities for PLM Customers
Agile Software Corporation announced that it has expanded the scope of its relationship with Adobe Systems Incorporated. Under terms of the new agreement, the two companies will jointly develop solutions based on Agile PLM and the Adobe® Intelligent Document Platform. In addition, Agile will resell the combined solutions. Through the combined offerings, companies managing their product record within Agile will have expanded enterprise-level functionality to address critical documentation, version-control, and form-based information management requirements across the extended supply network-including the most stringent FDA guidelines.
The expanded relationship builds on the success of Agile solutions using Adobe technology, which have been tailored for organizations in the pharmaceutical, consumer packaged goods and medical device industries. The combination of Adobe software, recognized as a standard for electronic document and forms management in FDA-regulated industries, with the Agile PLM solutions has enabled customers to meet stringent government packaging and labeling guidelines. Solutions already deployed at customer sites include packaging and label management; audit information management; and basic viewing, redlining and approvals.
Support for the Adobe Intelligent Document Platform, which includes Adobe Acrobat® technology and the Adobe LiveCycle server-based product suite, brings a new depth of enterprise-level capabilities for connecting people and processes in the enterprise. Organizations will be able to further leverage their investment in Agile collaboration tools, capturing the exchange of data, managing forms and workflow, and archiving information in standard Portable Document Format (PDF).
Agile's PLM solutions will utilize Adobe software, including Acrobat, Adobe Designer, Adobe Form Server and Adobe Reader® Extensions Server, to enable PDF creation from everyday document creation programs; allow users to collaborate on PDF documents with review and mark up tools; manage product record information with electronic forms; and sign-off on the final approved version. Organizations can now utilize Agile PLM solutions, PDF and the Adobe Reader to more easily transition paper-based processes to efficient electronic workflows.
"With this agreement, Agile has become the first PLM solution provider to embrace the full Adobe Intelligent Document Platform," said Ivan Koon, senior vice president, Intelligent Document business unit at Adobe. "Together, we will provide a solution with unprecedented capabilities for presenting and managing product record information in any form across the extended enterprise. This gives our customers the ability to ensure requirements around product safety and quality are accurately tracked and documented at each stage of the product lifecycle."
"Adobe and Agile share a mutual commitment to providing our customers with the visibility, insight and accountability to meet company and government standards for excellence and safety," said Chris Wong, Agile executive vice president and chief product officer. "We've seen early successes collaborating on solutions for the CPG, medical device and pharmaceutical industries. Through Agile support of the complete Adobe Intelligent Document Platform, we look forward to expanding our joint offerings with functionality that empowers customers to bring to market products that are the best in their industries."
