Open Design Alliance to Integrate SchemaSoft Technology

SchemaSoft announced that its Structured Storage Library has been selected by the Open Design Alliance for use in its software libraries supporting the OpenDGN CAD data standard.

The OpenDGN standard, developed by Bentley Systems and supported by the Open Design Alliance, utilizes Microsoft's structured storage specification in order to create and manage large compound documents. OpenDGN has become increasingly common in high-value strategic infrastructure projects, where the ability to represent complex design data in a documented, reliable, and trustworthy format is crucial.

"Software developers look to the Open Design Alliance for tools to support reading and writing the most important CAD data formats," stated Chris Komnick, vice president of business development for SchemaSoft. "The integration of our library within their toolkit greatly extends the exposure of our technology to the engineering design market".

"Millions of engineers, architects, and technical professionals rely on software applications from our member companies," said Evan Yares, president of the Open Design Alliance. "Both those users, and our member companies, rely upon us to provide rock-solid technology. The SchemaSoft Structured Storage Library helps us continue to do that, while allowing us to confidently extend our support for the OpenDGN standard beyond the Windows platform.

"SchemaSoft's Structured Storage Library features a well-defined and easy-to-use application program interface and has been tested on all major UNIX platforms, Linux, Mac OS 9, Mac OS X, Palm OS, Symbian and other operating systems. The library is currently being used by a variety of companies, including Apple and Adobe.

Founded in 1998, the Open Design Alliance is a non-profit consortium committed to promoting open industry-standards for the exchange of CAD data. For additional information about the Open Design Alliance, please visit http://www.opendesign.com

SchemaSoft has been providing software development services and licensed components to the professional software community since 1987.
