Vehma International of America,Inc. Adopts PAM-CRASH 2G from ESI Group to Meet Stringent Car Manufacturers Requirements

Vehma International of America, Inc. an engineering division of automotive component supplier Magna International Inc., has selected PAM-CRASH 2G from ESI Group to optimize crash simulation and improve safety. ESI Group's crash test simulation software will be used on a Linux cluster in DMP (Distributed Memory Parallel) mode.

"ESI Group has been on the forefront of crash and occupant safety simulation technology. PAM-CRASH 2G helps car manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers meet the increasingly stringent regulatory crash tests, and ultimately improves the delivery of safe automobiles" said Pierre Culière, PAM-CRASH Product Manager. "Our solution lets Vehma engineers explore various alternatives and gain valuable insight to achieve design improvements for crash simulation in less time."

"We choose PAM-CRASH 2G because it is fast and very stable in DMP mode. It gives us the possibility to perform intensive calculations with fast turnaround time," said Kiran Kolli, Engineering Manager, Vehma Engineering. "PAM-CRASH 2G allows us to have a better and faster approach to the design process, cutting down on product development time while meeting new requirements from car manufacturers."

Competition within the automotive industry has forced manufacturers to re-evaluate their design processes. With advanced technology like the PAM-CRASH 2G's predictive rupture model, carmakers and their suppliers can perform accurate analysis of material deformation, from composites, to high-strength steel and aluminum.

Vehma International of America, Inc. is an engineering product development company. Vehma has experience in design and development of complete vehicle body and chassis structures from concept to production. Vehma has extensive capabilities in the areas of design, CAE, testing and benchmarking to support product development programs for OEMs.

ESI Group's product portfolio, which has been industrially validated and combined in multi-trade value chains, represents a unique collaborative, virtual engineering solution, known as the Virtual Try-Out Space (VTOS), enabling a continuous improvement on the virtual prototype. By reducing costs and development lead times, VTOS solutions offer major competitive advantages by progressively eliminating the need for physical prototypes. With revenues close to 49 million euros in fiscal year 2003, ESI Group employs almost 500 high-level specialists worldwide. The company and its global network of agents provide sales and technical support to customers in more than 30 countries. On the Net: ESI Group site: http://www.esi-group.com
