Gibbs SFP Standard Feature With Fadal CNC Machines

Gibbs and Associates, developer of GibbsCAM®, computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software for programming computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools, and Fadal Machining Centers (Chatsworth, CA), a company of ThyssenKrupp Technologies, announced that Gibbs SFP® (Shop Floor Programming) will be included as a standard feature with the entire line of CNC machine tools produced by Fadal which incorporate Fadal's new 104/D controller. Gibbs SFP significantly expands the built-in programming tools for Fadal customers to allow them to maximize their productivity. This offering is the next logical step in the long term relationship between the two companies providing complete machining solutions for customers.

"The 104/D represents the latest advances in controller technology," states Glenn de Caussin, Fadal's Director of Software and Control Engineering. "Shipping Gibbs SFP preloaded on the 104/D controller ensures users are productive with their Fadal machining centers as quickly as possible. And in this highly competitive market, that productivity pays off."

"Over the years, Gibbs and Fadal have had a long collaboration," comments Bill Gibbs, founder and president of Gibbs and Associates. "During this time, Gibbs SFP has become the industry leader in on-control programming systems for open controllers. Using Gibbs SFP, Fadal users will be able to produce parts faster, getting a return on their equipment sooner."

Gibbs SFP is fully compatible with the offline GibbsCAM software allowing process models to be exchanged between the two. Programming offices can forward high-content process models to the machine tool which the operator can review and make any local adjustments necessary. These modifications can be saved and sent back to the programming office for their reference. Full compatibility between the two systems also ensures full protection of the users' investment which starts with Gibbs SFP. Customers may also add optional incremental functionality to Gibbs SFP, which are comparable to Gibbs' offline CAM systems, as well as optional support for reading part models in numerous CAD formats.

Fadal manufactures three lines of VMCs, two CNC controls and a line of rotary tables, indexers and pallet shuttle systems at this location. Fadal's VMCs range from 550 mm x 400 mm up to 2032 x 760 mm, and cover a broad range of applications, which include steel, titanium, aluminum, plastics and wood. Fadal maintains extensive training programs, technical support teams, as well as a strong global network of qualified distributors to provide local world-class after-sales support.
