Spicer's New ViewCafé Linux Offering Expands Server Platform Choices

Spicer Corporation, a provider of universal viewing solutions for ECM, PLM, and reprographics applications, boosts the cross-platform capability of ViewCafé with the new ViewCafé Linux Server.

The new server for Red Hat Linux provides document handling, load balancing and format loading. The scalable server architecture gives ViewCafé the ability to handle virtually a limitless number of clients, while its customizable API gives administrators complete control over security and functionality.

"While the Client applet has always been available on Windows, Macintosh, Unix and Linux platforms, the ViewCafé Server was previously available only as a Windows component. Eliminating this constraint expands the visualization options for many companies; administrators can take full advantage of the extremely secure and reliable nature of Linux to provide stable document view and markup solutions for their users, across the enterprise and across businesses," says Tony Prilesnik, Product Manager.

"Moreover, market trends indicate that enterprise adoption of Linux continues to grow at a solid rate. Both the traditional Unix vendors and the newer entrants, such as Dell, have Linux strategies. We feel this validates the market."

ViewCafé is a Web-based, Java T 2-powered document viewing, markup and collaboration tool, which enables businesses to access, share, distribute and cooperatively review documents across the organization and throughout the extended enterprise using a standard Web browser or a Java Bean application.
